The CMT Awards were one of the the first awards shows to take place since the passing of country legend Merle Haggard on April 6. So naturally, it was a given that a tribute to the iconic outlaw would be featured during the ceremony.
However, the tribute, led by Dierks Bentley, was super short, and was more of a passing mention than a full-fledged tribute. After the show, many fans expressed their disspointment that the tribute didn't appear to be more thought out.
