Just moments after the news broke that the hit tv show, Nashville, would be returning to television, one of the show’s leading actors and singers opened up about the comeback.

Charles Esten, who plays Deacon Claybourne in the series, hopped on a stage in front of hundreds of fans early Friday (June 10th) morning discussing the “worst kept secret in Nashville”.

“I’m very, very grateful to say that ‘Nashville’ will have a season five,” Esten gushed to the mass of fans. “Thanks to CMT!!”

The crowd erupted into a series of screams, cheers, and hollers!

The Tennessean broke the news the evening prior that CMT and Hulu would be backing the fifth season of the show, and he credited the success of the program being picked up to the show’s passionate fan base.

Esten was always steadfast that the show had too many things going for it to truly leave television forever.
