The music world was shaken last night when former 'Voice' contestant Christina Grimmie was shot and killed while signing autographs for fans after a concert at the Plaze Live in Orlando, Florida.
During a press conference Saturday morning (June 11), the Orlando Police Chief John Mina stated that a 21-year old white male armed with two guns, two loaded magazines, and a hunting knife approached Grimmie during a meet & greet and opened fire. Grimmie's brother, Marcus, tackled the gunman, an act that police are calling heroic as he possibly saved countless other lives. The gunman then turned the gun on himself.
The suspect, who acted alone, traveled from another Florida city to commit the murder and had plans to return home after the shooting.
In response to a question regarding venue security, Mina said that there was security at the Plaza Live but they were unarmed and there were no extra OPD officers on site.
Authorities are looking at the suspect's phone and computer in hopes of determining a motive. His name will be released later today.
