Christina Grimmie
As the music world mourns the loss of ‘Voice’ singer Christina Grimmie, police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her murder.
Grimmie was shot and killed while signing autographs for fans after a concert at the Plaze Live in Orlando, Florida. In a press conference Saturday morning (June 11), Orlando Police Chief John Mina stated that a 21-year old white male armed with two guns, two loaded magazines, and a hunting knife approached Grimmie during a meet & greet and opened fire. Grimmie’s brother, Marcus, tackled the gunman, an act that police are calling heroic as he possibly saved countless other lives. The gunman then turned the gun on himself. The suspect, who acted alone, traveled from another Florida city to commit the murder and had plans to return home after the shooting.
Later Saturday, police identified the gunman as Kevin James Loibl, 27, of St. Petersburg, Florida. No information was given about Loibl’s background or a possible motive.
