The Voice community is in mourning following the tragic death of former contestant, Christina Grimmie, who placed third during season six. The 22-year-old singer and YouTube personality passed away after she was shot multiple times following a concert at the Plaza Live Theater in Orlando, Florida on Friday (June 10).
After the news broke about Grimmie’s death, the Voice coaches took to social media to express how heartbroken they were over the loss of such a great talent and a wonderful person. Grimmie’s coach during her time on the show, Adam Levine, posted an emotional reaction to the loss of his former team member.
“Christina was a natural, a gifted talent that comes along so rarely,” he wrote. “She was taken from us too soon.“

Grimme’s fellow Voice contestants also reacted to the news of her death on social media. Season six runner-up Jake Worthington shared his admiration for Grimmie while season six winner Josh Kauffman wrote a heartbreaking post about how Grimmie was lost too soon.
“Christina Grimmie was such a phenomenal singer and human being and by chance our two very different paths crossed for a short time and I am proud to have had the opportunity to perform with her and to have known her,” Kauffman wrote.

Voice host Carson Daly also reacted to Grimmie’s passing on social media, writing “She was special.” During a phone interview with TODAY on Saturday (June 11), Daly spoke further about how much Grimmie meant to the Voice community “She was determined, she was confident, and she was so incredibly sweet…you would never forget meeting her,” he said.
