Toby Keith Surprises Prisoner Of War Hero, Patrick Miller With “Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue (The Angry American)” | Country Music Videos

In 2001, after the passing of his father and the terrorist attacks on September 11th, Toby Keith wrote “Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue (The Angry American)”. The song was later released in 2002 from Keith’s album, Unleashed, and reached #25 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Keith is well known for his patriotism and support of U.S. troops, but took his loyalty one step further when he surprised Prisoner of War Patrick Miller at his homecoming in 2003.

While serving in the U.S Army, Private First Class Patrick Miller was working as a mechanic in the 2003 invasion on Iraq. For several weeks, Miller became a Prisoner of War with four other members of his unit. Miller was awarded the Silver Star for valor after returning to the the United States. During his time as a POW he claims he tried to annoy the enemy by loudly singing Toby Keith’s “Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue (The Angry American)”. After hearing this, Keith wanted to surprise Miller when he returned to his hometown in Kansas. So exciting!

Below are both the official music video for“Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue (The Angry American)”and the footage of Toby surprising Miller. This Iraq War hero was completely shocked to see the country superstar at his homecoming, and even joined in singing the patriotic war anthem. These videos are a great reminder of why it is so important to support our devoted troops. God Bless America!

American Girls and American Guys

We’ll always stand up and salute
We’ll always recognize
When we see Old Glory Flying
There’s a lot of men dead
So we can sleep in peace at night
When we lay down our head

My daddy served in the army
Where he lost his right eye
But he flew a flag out in our yard
Until the day that he died
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me
To grow up and live happy
In the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love
Has fallen under attack
A mighty sucker punch came flyin’ in
From somewhere in the back
Soon as we could see clearly
Through our big black eye
Man, we lit up your world
Like the 4th of July

Hey Uncle Sam
Put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty
Started shakin’ her fist
And the eagle will fly
Man, it’s gonna be hell
When you hear Mother Freedom
Start ringin’ her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you Courtesy of the Red White and Blue
