Blake Shelton got into the holiday spirit by reading, "'Twas The Night Before Christmas" to a handful of schoolchildren.
He starts reading the famous story to the kids, who immediately begin to interrupt him with questions. Don't worry, they raised their hands!
They have questions like "How come the mice aren't stirring?", "Who is St. Nicholas?", and "What's a sugar plum?".
He answers each question, very vaguely, and the kids all have follow-up questions, which he isn't too happy about!
He barely gets through a sentence before hands are shot in the air with more questions. One question pushed him over the edge.
When he was at the part in the story where he reads, "Mama in her kerchief and I in my cap, had just settled our brains for a long, winter's nap."
One little guy asks Shelton, "Why are they taking a nap at night-time? Naps are for day-time." And Shelton goes off on the kids!
"Oh, my God! You know what, they don't even know what time it is! Mama and Papa have been partying for three days straight! That's why they gotta settle their brains. There's pizza boxes in the living room stacked up, the sink is full of dirty dishes, the oldest sugar plum kid is takin' care of the little kids, but she's not telling anybody!"
The children look at Shelton, shocked and scared.
"You know why?" Shelton continues. "Because she knows that Child Services will come and take the kids away. And even though she knows that Mama and Papa are all messed up and high all the time. She knows that deep down inside, they still love them. That's why they are taking a nap in the middle of the night."
Finally, Shelton calmed down and continued the originally G-rated story to a bunch of very confused kids.
