Some have called Vince Gill the most romantic country singer of all time. It's hard to disagree when he has songs like "Look At Us" in his repertoire.
Released in 1991, "Look At Us" was the third single off Gill's Pocket Full of Gold album. It opens with a pedal steel guitar intro by John Hughey, who is known for his "crying steel" method, which lends to a sultry country vibe felt throughout.
In an interview with USA Today in 2007, Gill credits Hughley's steel guitar playing with giving his music definition.
"His introduction to 'Look At Us' makes that song recognizable by what happens before any words even get sung," he says.
The music video features photos and videos of real-life couples who have been married for a long time.
Grab some tissues, because this song is powerful and one you'll want to share with that special someone. It also includes several scenes of Gill and his ex-wife, Janis.
"Look At Us" is ranked No. 51 on Taste of Country's list of the 100 Best Country Love Songs and for good reason.
When hearing the beautiful lyrics of this song, you will immediately think of your special someone. If you don't have one, you will dream of having one like Gill describes in the chorus.
"Look at you
Still pretty as a picture
Look at me
Still crazy over you
Look at us
Still believin' in forever."
