Looks like talent runs deep in the Gill clan! Jenny Gill joined her father Vince Gill on stage for a heartwarming performance of her father's "Whenever You Come Around."
Vince plays the mandolin while Jenny sings and their performance of the song shares the same tempo and tone of the original with Jenny reciting the heart-aching lines beautifully.
"Whenever You Come Around" was co-written and recorded by Gill and Pete Wasner. in 1994. The song was released as the lead single off When Love Finds You and peaked at No.2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.
In a live performance of the ballad, Gill once revealed the muse behind the writing of the song. "Pete and I were working on this song and I said lets write a song about Amy Grant's smile," recalls Gill. "We covered [her smile] the first few lines of the song and then had to make the rest of it up because we didn't know her very good," he continues jokingly. Gill regards Grant's smile as the "prettiest smile I've seen."
