The 57th Annual Grammys was a memorable night for country music. There were many great performances, including Best New Artist nominee Brandy Clark singing "Hold My Hand" alongside country legend Dwight Yoakam.
"Am I cool enough to stand on stage with this guy?" remarked Brandy about playing with idol Dwight.
However it seems Brandy found a fan in Dwight as well. "I love her melodies," he commented, "Her instincts and intuition are spot on."
"Hold My Hand" is the emotional ballad from Brandy's 12 Stories album (Best Country Album nominee) about the insecurities experienced when a lover's ex enters the picture again.
"I think everyone has felt that way, [...] It's a moment of truth," says Brandy of the track, "Deep down inside, you both know that they still have feelings for that person [...] It's very vulnerable."
The simple, no frills, performance showcased the song's touching lyrics beautifully, not to mention the duo's voices. Dwight and Brandy harmonizing is perfection.
