The upbeat song was released off of George's album, George Jones Sings Country Classics, in 1964. The album contained an array of country music classics, "Blue Moon of Kentucky" being one of them. In the 1960s George and Melba collaborated on many hit songs and became a very popular duo in the country music industry.
The song tells the story of lost love under the blue moon of Kentucky. The narrator tells the night sky, "Shine on the one that's gone and left me blue". Although the song tells a sad tale, the fast-pace beat makes it pretty fun!
George and Melba are fantastic together, and the chemistry between the two makes their music nothing less than spectacular.
