Country singer Jeff Bates paid tribute to country music legend Conway Twitty’s sensual hit single “I’d Love to Lay You Down.”

Bates rendition is reminiscent to the original but with an added burst of energy. Bates hearty southern accent comes in full force the quick-paced melody setting a modern tone while still maintaining the overall classic feel of Conway’s original.

“I’d Love to Lay You Down” was released in January 1980 as the lead single of Conway’s Heart and Soul album. The song quickly soared to No.1 and has sold over 300,000 digital downloads.

The song has maintained relevance throughout the decades reaching No.43 on the country chart when covered by Daryle Singletary. You can watch Jeff Bates’ cover in the video below and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments!
