'Hell to Pay' is the only track that isn't a cover on Boz Scaggs' new album 'A Fool to Care', available March 31st. Not to mention, it's the only song on the record that will feature legendary Bonnie Raitt and Lucinda Williams. And it's the kind of song that 'just falls out of the sky', according to Boz.
Initially, he says, "I was scared to call Bonnie. I'm sort of in awe of [her]."
The prolific Bonnie, who's known for hits like 'I Can't Make You Love Me' and 'Let's Give 'Em Something To Talk About', contributed slide guitar and vocals to the new track.
"I am so glad to finally get to play and sing with Boz, who's always been a favorite," Bonnie remarked in a recent interview. "The song was so cool lyrically and musically and it seems like a perfect fit."
Bonnie recorded her contribution to the record at Boz's home studio, The Barn, in California. Lucinda Williams was Boz's original chose for the duet, but in the end Bonnie seemed a better fit. Lucinda did however contribute a third part harmony and guitar to the song.
