Vince Gill, Eric Clapton, & Sheryl Crow – Tulsa Time (Live)

Vince Gill, Eric Clapton, & Sheryl Crow – Tulsa Time (Live) | Country Music Videos

When a performer as talented as Vince Gill gets together with legend Eric Clapton to cover his song, you know it’s going to be amazing.

That’s exactly what happened at 2010’s Crossroads Festival. Joining Eric and Vince onstage were Sheryl Crow and Albert Lee. The four country music artists performed an incredible rendition of Eric’s hit ‘Tulsa Time‘.

The Crossroads Festival, originally founded by Eric in 1999, benefits a drug treatment center he started in Antigua, aptly named the Crossroads Centre. Each performer is personally selected by Eric himself to perform so you can imagine what an honor it must be to play at this festival, held every few years in Madison Square Gardens.

Throughout the years the list of iconic artists has included the likes of Bob Dylan, Bo DiddleyBooker T. & the M.G.’s, Mary J. Blige, and of course, all the talented musicians appearing in the video below.

The tune ‘Tulsa Time‘  was a huge hit for Eric, and as you’ll see in this video, Vince and his megastar lineup do a bang-up job playing it.

Tulsa Time – Lyrics

‘Tulsa Time’ (by Eric Clapton)

Well, I left Oklahoma
Driving in a Pontiac,
Just about to lose my mind.
I was going to Arizona,
Maybe on to California
Where people all live so fine.

My mother says I’m crazy,
My baby calls me lazy,
But I’m gonna show them all this time
‘Cause you know I ain’t no fool and
I don’t need no more damn schoolin’.
I was born to just walk the line.

Living on Tulsa Time.
Living on Tulsa Time.
Gonna set my watch back to it
‘Cause you know that I’ve been through it.
Living on Tulsa Time.

So there I was in Hollywood,
Thinking I was doing good,
Talking on the telephone line.
They don’t want me in the movies
And nobody sings my songs;
My mama says my baby’s doing fine.

So then I started winking,
Then I started thinking
That I really had a flash this time.
That I had no bussiness leaving,
And nobody would be grieving;
You see I’m on Tulsa time.
