Fried green tomatoes are a southern classic and great for the summertime (but really they’re great for anytime, right?) Here’s a delicious and easy recipe for y’all to try out. Maybe try it for your next BBQ!
Take a couple green tomatoes and cut them into quarter-inch slices.
Season the all-purpose flour with salt and pepper and then mix well.
Thoroughly coat each tomato slice and set aside for about ten minutes.
Now it’s time to make the batter. Mix two large eggs and half a cup of milk together.
For the final layer, take the cornmeal and season it with black pepper and mix well.
Dip the coated tomato slice into the milk and egg mixture.
Next dip the slice into the cornmeal.
Carefully place fully-coated slices into 350 degree oil.
Flip them after three minutes. After six minutes total, carefully take them out of the hot oil. Sprinkle them with salt. Put them on cooling racks. Do not put them on paper towels.
Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce!
