Brooks & Dunn is the most successful country duo of all time, and rightly so. They rocked the 90s with their epic hits, like “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” and “Neon Moon“, successfully burrowing themselves in the hearts of all country music fans. There’s one song in particular that people can’t help but sing along to and that’s “My Maria“, whether we can hit those high notes or not.
“My Maria” was originally released in 1973 by B. W. Stevenson. Two decades later in 1996, Brooks & Dunn released the song on their Borderline album. It peaked at #1 on the US Hot Country Songs (Billboard) chart, and ended the year as the #1 country song according to Billboard. “My Maria” won Ronnie and Kix the Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Vocal Group or Duo.
Brooks & Dunn’s performance at CMT Invitation Only was dynamite per usual. The catchy song forces us to stand up and dance wherever we may be, belting out the chorus that we all remember and love.
And while y’all are at it, check out Kix singing “You’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone“!
