We all know that talents runs in the Williams family. Hank Williams is an American legend. His musical skills passed on to his son, Hank Jr., and from there Hank III and Holly. Today, we’re talking about Hank Jr.’s daughter though. Holly Williams is an exceptional singer and we found this fantastic video of her covering her grandfather’s gospel hit from the 40s, “I Saw The Light“. We’ve already heard her cover of “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry“, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that she also knocked this one out of the park.
“I Saw The Light” was written by Hank Williams and released in 1948. He was inspired by something his mother said on his way home from a concert in 1947. She had said to him, “I just saw the light,” pointing out that they were close to Montgomery, Alabama and she had seen the lights from an airport. Though the song wasn’t all-at-once a major success, he was known for closing each of his shows out by performing this country gospel tune.
Holly’s rendition is beautifully done. Though know one could ever perform this song like Hank, Holly pays tribute to her legendary grandfather very well.
