Originally performed and made famous by The Louvin Brothers in 1955, Don Henley decided to revisit the song on his upcoming country album. The song was a top hit for The Louvin Brothers, it became a hit in the late 50s and into the early 60s. Don is bringing it back as one of his favorites, with the help of Dolly Parton.
The song is great! With Don and Dolly’s voices balancing each other out, they bring new life to the classic hit. In an interview with USA Today, Don spoke of Dolly and how they worked together and the song itself.
“I think we had about two or three takes with Dolly. She comes in and goes, ‘I know this song; I used to do it with Porter (Wagoner).’ She sings it once, and she goes, ‘Mmm, it’s in a pretty high key for me. I guess I’ll just have to rare back and get it.’ And boy, she did. What a voice that girl has, comign out of such a small person.”
The song is sure to be a hit and is bringing a classic back to the younger generation. Dolly isn’t the only artist joining Don on his new solo album. Miranda lambert, Martina McBride and Merle Haggard are just some of the country artists joining him on his new album.
