Little Lila May Schow had only one wish: to dance on stage with Luke Bryan.
When Lila May was just two-years-old, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma. After years of battling the disease, doctors told the little girl’s family that her body was no longer strong enough to fight.
The family then set out to make sure that Lila May’s dreams come true. They threw her a fabulous princess party, took her on a week long Hawaiian vacation, but there was one wish left… the five-year-old wanted to dance on stage with her idol, Luke Bryan!
During an interview with PEOPLE Lila May’s mom, Heidi Hall, admitted just how much her daughter loved Luke. She said,
She’s just always loved him, whenever she hears his songs come on, she starts dancing. Her favorite song of all time is ‘That’s My Kind of Night.’ If she could to be on stage with him while he sings that song, that would just make her whole entire year.
When Luke received wind of the story, he was quick to help Lila May’s dream come true. A friend of the family, Jenny Brown-Lorenzen, also told PEOPLE, “Luke personally called Lila and talked to her and her family. They were so very impressed.“
But Luke didn’t stop there! He sent little Lila May a personalized video message, and even got VIP tickets to an upcoming show for the whole family. He even arranged to bring her onstage to sing her favorite song, “That’s My Kind of Night“.
Tragically, Lila May Schow passed away on September 12, 2015, before she was able to dance with Luke.
We are so thankful that Luke was able to touch Lila May’s heart. Our hearts go out to her family.
