In light of the devastating news that Joey’s cancer treatments were unsuccessful, Joey + Rory cancelled their remaining Farmhouse concerts, but not their concerts this weekend.
They just announced that they will NOT be canceling their performances at the Heber Valley Poetry Gathering on October 29th and 30th in Utah.
In an announcement on their Facebook account, Joey + Rory’s manager, Aaron, writes,
“Joey+Rory’s upcoming concerts at the Heber Valley Poetry Gathering on October 29th and 30th have not been cancelled! Though all of the November and December farmhouse concerts at Joey and Rory’s farm in Tennessee have been cancelled in order to honor Joey as she rests and recovers at home…. Rory (along with his daughter Heidi) will be traveling to Utah to perform at the Heber Valley Gathering because the couple made this commitment with their wonderful friends at the festival nearly a year ago and this event’s success means a great deal to both of them. They have performed there many times in the past and it is one of their favorite places to play.”
Rory will be performing without Joey, who will be at home resting, and will be sharing some heartfelt stories about the difficult struggles with Joey’s health, but also the blessings that come along with it.
Below is the duo’s emotional song about coping with the passing of a loved one, “When I’m Gone“. Although this was recorded in 2012, it means so much more after their devastating announcement about Joey’s health.
We will be keeping the Feek family in our thoughts and prayers.
