Lambert spoke about the divorce for the first time in her recent interview with Cosmopolitan, which will be published in its December 3 issue and featured as its cover story. Even though the magazine hasn’t hit the shelves yet, a few details from Lambert’s interview have already been released.
In the interview, Lambert has nothing but good things to say about Shelton, and admits they gave their marriage their best shot.
“I had a great relationship with an amazing man,” she says. “So I know what good is. I have a great launching pad for the future. I will never take that for granted.”
Because Lambert still has respect for Shelton, she wants their fans to realize there is no need to chose sides following their divorce:
“We are real people with real lives and real sh–. We’re both very honest. This is what it is now, and we’re moving forward. We don’t need all the opinions. We just need y’all to be supportive, and nobody pick a side — because there ain’t a side.”
Since the divorce, Lambert has worked on moving on, but has no plans to start dating quite yet. Instead, she’s going to take some time to focus on her first love…music
“I feel the sexiest when I’m in my element, which is playing music,” she says.
There’s no doubt that Lambert is comfortable and confident as a performer, something she makes evident in her music video for “Little Red Wagon,” which you can watch below.
You can read Lambert’s full interview with Cosmopolitan when the magazine makes its way into stores on Thursday, December 3.
