On Thanksgiving Day, the country music community came together to share their support for two of their own, Joey and Rory Feek.
Ever since Joey + Rory announced that Joey had made the decision to end her treatments for her terminal cancer, the couple has received an outpouring of support from fans and fellow artists alike.
Television channel RFD-TV joined in showing their support to the duo with a marathon of their variety show The Joey + Rory Show on Thanksgiving Day. Later that evening, the channel hosted a new television special, called To Joey + Rory With Love, which featured personal messages to couple from some of the biggest names in country music.
The first artist to share her message to Joey + Rory was none other than Dolly Parton. Parton thanked Joey + Rory for always being big fans of hers, and shared her love for the couple:
"Joey and Rory, I've loved you for years. I have all your records...I just wanted you know that I really appreciate the fact that you've often done my songs...I've heard that you're a big fan. Well I want to let you know that I appreciate that, and I want you to know that I'm sorry that you're not feeling good. But I know that we have something in common, we both believe in a higher power. We believe that through God, all things are possible. So you keep praying and I'll keep praying for you. And I just think that you're wonderful, and I know that God's proud of you."
"Joey and Rory, we just want to say that our hearts, and our thoughts, and our prayers are with you at this time," McEntire said. "We love you with all our hearts."
One artist who couldn't help but get emotional during her message to Joey + Rory was Tanya Tucker. As she spoke, Tucker kept getting choked up, as her eyes filled with tears and she struggled to find the right words to say:
"It's so tough I know for you...there's been a lot of people I know that's been affected by cancer, and it's just a cruel, awful thing, and I hate to see that you're going through this. But I am glad you're here...and I send my heartfelt love. And I am so sorry that you are going through all this pain, but keep your chin up my love."
The legendary Brenda Lee also recorded her own personal message to Joey + Rory, calling Joey one of her biggest heroes.
"You know sometimes in life if we're lucky, we get to meet a hero. And I feel like one of those heroes that I've met is Joey Feek," said Lee.
Lee also said that she is grateful to have had the chance to watch Joey + Rory's love story unfold over the years. Through tears, Lee said that she is sending her prayers to Joey, her family, and her children, before she finished her message.
"God is waiting on you to sing for him," Lee said.
