Carrie Underwood is known for her long, flowing curls, so it came as a bit of a shock when the singer posted a photo revealing a shorter new "do."

Underwood showed off her new hairstyle on Instagram prior to her December 8 performance at the Grand Ole Opry. She didn't mention anything about the haircut in her caption, but many of her fans commented on how much they like her shorter style.

Backstage @opry selfie! I love being at the Ryman! There's just something so special about this place...

Underwood's stylist Melissa Schleicher also shared the photo of Underwood's new hairstyle on her own Instagram, captioning it "Gave @carrieunderwood fresh new cut !!!"

Fans had the chance to catch another glimpse of Underwood's haircut when she performed at a benefit for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. In one photo from the benefit, you can really see how much length Underwood took off to create her new bob.

It seems that one of the last times we got to see Underwood's long hair was in her new music video for her song, "Heartbeat," which you can watch below.

Since Underwood's long hair is her signature look, we admit that her new "do" may take some getting used to. Still, we think she looks just as lovely as ever!

What do you think of Underwood's short hairstyle?
