The country superstar shows how much his father truly meant in a touching moment.
Just days after Keith Urban announced that his father, Robert Urban, had entered hospice care, his father passed away following a long battle with cancer.
During the opening of his exhibit at Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame, Keith had admitted that he was still reeling from the impact of his father being placed into hospice.
“I’ve just been dealing with that the last couple of days. This has all come at a very strange time...So (the exhibit) is bittersweet a little bit because (my dad) is the catalyst for all of this. My dad is the catalyst for me living in America.”
Then, on December 5th, 2015, Robert (Bob) Urban passed away after a ten-year fight with cancer. It was clear that the last few weeks had been some of the most trying in the singer's life and he needed his family and friends close.
Several hundred people were in attendance at the memorial service held in Keith's home state of Queensland, Australia. Both Keith and his brother Shane gave some incredibly moving eulogies during the gathering.
"I am so deeply grateful that Dad is not suffering anymore," The Daily Telegraph Australia quoted the singer as telling mourners. "I loved him so much and did not want him to suffer like he was towards the end...he now has given me all the peace that I need to create this new spiritual relationship with my father."
Keith's mother, Marienne, spoke briefly about Bob in a touching moment, calling him her "soul mate". It was reported that Keith's wife Nicole Kidman and his two daughters were too grief-stricken to attend the memorial.
We are keeping Keith Urban and his family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
