On Thursday (Dec. 17), Keith Urban laid his father to rest in Australia after he passed away last week following a long battle with prostate cancer.
Urban arrived at the funeral service in his father's prized Lincoln Continental, while his father's friends rode beside him on motorcycles.
Although Urban had the support of his father's friends as well as his mother and brother, one important person was noticeably missing from the service, Urban's wife and actress Nicole Kidman.
Kidman's absence from the funeral is puzzling, since Urban served as her main source of support when her own father unexpectedly passed away last year. Not only was Urban by her side at the funeral, but he even served as a pallbearer for his father-in-law.
Urban helped support Kidman through another tragic moment in April of this year, when her sister's ex-husband passed away.
The couple's two daughters, Sunday and Faith, were also absent from their grandfather's funeral. There are many reports as to why Kidman and her daughters were not there, with The Daily Telegraph stating that they were "too grief-stricken" to attend the funeral, especially after all of the loss they've already experienced.
Another report by Hello Magazine says the reason Kidman was absent from the funeral is because she is busy working on her latest film, How To Talk To Girls At Parties.
Even though Kidman was not at the funeral, she is heartbroken for her husband, with Hello Magazine saying that a friend of Kidman's said "All she wants to do is hug him and hold him and tell him everything will be okay."
Urban's father played a huge part in helping him get to where he is today, with Urban saying in a statement following his death, "My Dad’s love of Country music and America set me on my life's journey." In 2002, he showed his appreciation for his father in a song he wrote for him called "Song For Dad," which you can listen to below.
We continue to send our heartfelt prayers to Urban, Kidman, and their family during this sad time.
