Rory Feek/This Life I Live
It’s a known fact that Santa Claus spends every waking minute in the weeks leading up to Christmas getting ready for his big night. On Christmas Eve, with the help of his elves, the sleigh is loaded with toys to be delivered to children all over the world. But, every now and then there is a family so special that Santa just can’t wait until Christmas Eve to pay them a visit.
Such is the case for little Indy Feek and her parents, Joey and Rory. Thanks to some of the family’s friends from Arkansas, Santa left the North Pole to make a surprise trip to Indiana and deliver some Christmas cheer (and gifts) a week early.
In a new blog post, Rory detailed the visit.
“The Kris Kringle that showed up at our door wasn’t your ordinary shopping-mall Santa,” Rory wrote. “This one was the real deal… or as close to it as I’ve ever personally seen. He had the real beard, the real belly, and on top of that he had the kindest smile and a heart for special babies and mama’s with no hair… I loved him from the moment I met him.”
Santa, a country music fan, brought along a box full of gifts. After the presents had all been opened, Santa sat down next to a smiling Joey who was once again out of her hospice bed.
“He and Joey and I talked together for a long, long time. It turned out our Santa is retired military and used to be in law enforcement – apprehending bad guys,” Rory shares. “Then sometime after he retired, he found his true calling. Love. He told us that ‘you haven’t lived ’til you’ve found a job that allows you to give something back.’”
Before Santa and Mrs. Claus left the Feeks, they took time to pose for a card-worthy photo.
