Dolly Parton proves yet again that she is a hit-maker
After such positive reviews and record-breaking ratings, it’s no surprise that the second airing of Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors on Christmas night was a huge success.
According to NBCUniversal, the movie dominated in all demographics and continued to gain viewers as the night went on.
The two extremely successful airings are validation of the hard work that was put into the movie – the writing, the production, and everything in-between. Executive producer Sam Haskell was not surprised at all by the movie’s success.
“Dolly and I were thrilled with the ratings resulting from the second airing of Coat of Many Colors on Christmas night,” he said in a statement. “America has taken Dolly’s coat and wrapped it around everyone they love. We are honored and blessed with the response to our movie!”
Coat of Many Colors was the first of four films NBC will air about Parton’s songs. The stories behind “Jolene” and “The Seeker” have release dates in 2016, while the fourth movie is yet to be determined.
We can’t wait to see those movies, and we hope they keep re-airing Coat of Many Colors. It’s just so good!
