There's no mistaking Blake Shelton's highly recognizable voice, and now the "Gonna" singer is set to lend that voice to an upcoming animated movie.
On Tuesday (Dec. 29) it was announced that Shelton will voice a singing pig named Earl in the upcoming film The Angry Birds Movie. The film, which will be released on May 20, 2016, is based on the popular video game series of the same name.
For his role in the film, Shelton was in charge of writing an original song for his character, something that proved to be more difficult than he expected.
"I can write things about myself and my life," he says in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, "but I don’t have a whole lot of experience being shot out of a slingshot at pigs."
Shelton's character is truly unique in comparison to the others, and was designed to be just as country as he is, if not even more so.
"They kept saying, 'More country!'" he says. "I felt like I was doing a voice-over for 'Dukes of Hazzard.'"
Entertainment Weekly also released a picture of Shelton's character, who actually has a similar appearance to him. As Shelton pointed out on Twitter, his character even sports an arm tattoo that resembles his own signature ink.
The film's current trailer doesn't feature Shelton's character, but we hope a new one will be released soon. In the meantime, you can enjoy watching the current trailer below.
We can't wait to hear Shelton voice Earl the singing pig in the new Angry Birds movie! How about you?
