Carrie Underwood is one of the great ones.
Which is why it didn't take long for other country music legends, and the Grand Ole Opry to see just that. She was inducted into the Opry by fellow Oklahoman, Garth Brooks and joined by the legendary, Vince Gill for a performance of her hit song, "Jesus Take The Wheel" all in one night!
"Jesus Take The Wheel" was released as the first single from Underwood's debut album, Some Hearts. Fresh off her win from American Idol season four, Underwood was ready to jump into Nashville head first, and she did just that! "Jesus Take The Wheel" became a huge crossover hit, parked at the number one spot for six consecutive weeks on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. Not bad for a first single!
The rest seemed to come so easy. The song won Underwood Grammys for Best Female Country Vocal Performance & Best Country Song, and it won Single of the Year at the 2005 ACM Awards. Not too shabby for an up and coming artist.
As fate would have it, just three years after her start on American Idol, Underwood was inducted into the Opry family. The new artist was stunned to be invited by Randy Travis and inducted by Brooks. What more could a girl ask for? As she clung to her award, she began to sing that first number one hit, "Jesus Take The Wheel" with a special guest star.
Gill eventually takes the stage to assist Underwood in singing the emotional ballad. His effortless talent complemented her vocals perfectly, and you can see the awe on Underwood's face. What an amazing moment!
