The last month has been a roller coaster for country legend Mel Tillis. On January 8th the legendary singer underwent colon surgery that was followed by complications and a lengthy hospital stay. According to the 83-year old's friend Tony Orlando, Tillis was in critical condition at a Nashville hospital on January 13th. However, Tillis' publicist was quick to correct the statement and said that the singer's condition was not critical and that he was "on the road to recovery."
Just last week, Mel's daughter and fellow country artist Pam Tillis took to Facebook to ask for prayers for her father who she said wasn't recovering as quickly as they would like.
In a statement to Country Rebel, Tillis' publicist confirmed that he had remained in the hospital since his surgery in early January.
However, yesterday (January 31), Pam Tillis posted a new update to Facebook and shared that her father is now feeling better and thanks everyone for their prayers.
We are excited along with Pam and the rest of the Tillis family that Mel is doing better! We continue to pray for a full recovery and hope to see him back on the road soon.
