The Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter is making big waves with the latest announcement and shows his strong support for the cause in new ways.
Jason Aldean has already made many headlines with his seemingly endless support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and last year alone, donated more than $600,000 to the cause. Since he began pledging support for breast cancer research and awareness, the singer has raised more than $2.3 million dollars.
Now, in a new partnership with the Susan G. Komen Foundation for his We Were Here Tour, the country superstar will be giving out amazing VIP packages to breast cancer survivors for many shows throughout the tour. The winners will be picked from essay nominations.
Breast cancer research and awareness strikes very close to home for Aldean, who has experienced the disease's effects in a very real way.
"My best friend lost his wife to breast cancer and she was in her very early thirties. I was there. I watched it all go down. I watched him deal with that and her go through it and her leaving behind two daughters. That, to me, was sort of an eye-opener," Aldean told People.
Aldean also said that he always sees many breast cancer survivors at his concerts and spoke about the VIP experience.
“We have survivors come out to every show. They get there early and get to see the stages going up and just all the craziness that’s goes on around the show. Then we eat dinner together and they get a front-row seat. They get the red carpet laid out for them, and it’s been great.”
His partnership will span select dates throughout his We Were Here Tour that kicked off on January 14th, 2016 and is scheduled to continue through May. The tour features Thomas Rhett and A Thousand Horses as opening acts.
It's an incredible gift he's giving out and a great way to raise more awareness for breast cancer. We can't wait to hear the stories of the survivors who get to experience this exciting part of his tour!
