During a recent exclusive interview with Access Hollywood, Blake Shelton and his talented girlfriend, Gwen Stefani opened up about their thoughts on what the upcoming 10th season of The Voice will be like in their new roles.
Shelton has been on the show for every season and only he and Adam Levine have held their coaching chair since the beginning. Stefani has appeared as a coach in both season seven and the most recent, season nine.
Now that the ninth season has come to a close and the 10th is preparing to premiere, rumors had circulated around the addition of Stefani as a permanent fifth coach on the show. Those rumors were recently dispelled when it was announced that she would definitely re-join the cast, but in another role: advisor to her beau, Blake.
In the Access Hollywood interview, Shelton admitted that he was the one that devised the plan to bring his girlfriend back on the show, and it came with quite a few compliments.
"It was me. You start thinking who are the ultimate artists out there that you can get to mentor your team," Shelton confessed. "We know we collaborate well as coaches so, of course I would have her as my mentor. She's so smart...and talented!"
Compounding on that, his giggly sweetheart tossed a couple cute compliments his way too. Following Shelton giving some advice to stardom, Stefani discussed his string of successful No. 1 hits.
"Is that why you have 21 hit singles in a row?" she questioned. "Can you tell me how you did that? 21 hit singles in a row!"
"I come from money. And we bought it," Shelton joked back.
The interview is a fun example of how well these two get along and we cannot wait to see how this newfound role for Gwen plays out on the show!
The new season premieres February 29th, 2016 on NBC with Blake Shelton, Pharrell Williams, Christina Aguilera, and Adam Levine as coaches.
