Most of us have left our New Year's resolutions long behind us, but Tim McGraw is still taking on the challenge he gave himself years ago.
The country music all-star promised to take better care of himself in his 40's, and it wasn't because he wanted the eight-pack abs we are all jealous of. McGraw vowed to get healthy in order to save his career and his life.
At the 2016 Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, McGraw touched on the reason behind the transformation.
“I thought that I was at a point in my career where it was either time to give up, or not be the best you can be… and I felt like I was at sort of a crossroads of my life on all fronts,” McGraw said.
He never expanded on exactly what the "crossroads" in his career actually was, but it was around that very time he was going through some tough times with his then label, Curb Records.
“I wanted to control something, because I felt it was getting out of control, and I couldn’t control anything about all the things I worked so hard for.” McGraw said. “So I think the first thing I could grab and control was my physical well-being.”
Family is also a top priority for the singer, with three daughters and a wife at home, he wanted to make sure he was around for all the important stuff down the road.
In the video below he talks with a panel from the television show Doctors about his personal choice to get healthy, and even shows a glimpse of his workout out on the road.
