The soundtrack to the gripping documentary following Glen Campbell‘s Alzheimer’s journey won a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media at the 2016 Grammy Awards Monday night (February 15). The honor was awarded to Julian Raymond, the compilation producer of Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me.
Scott Borchetta, whose Big Machine Label Group released the soudtrack, accepted the honor on Raymond’s behalf. Borchetta, whose father worked for Glen Campbell in the 1960s, paid tribute to the Rhinestone Cowboy in his acceptance speech.
“This is such a special honor to represent Glen Campbell,” said Borchetta. “This is a beautiful honor. Thank you very much.”
The soundtrack for Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me features Campbell’s final studio performance, “I’m Not Gonna Miss You,” in addition to a number of Campbell’s classics such as “Wichita Lineman” and a cover of “Gentle on My Mind” by The Band Perry.
In 2015, “I’m Not Gonna Miss You,” the final song written and recorded by Campbell, received a Grammy for Best Country Song. The song was featured on the Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me documentary and detailed Campbell’s health and his determination not to give up.
