Rory Feek/This Life I Live
It was a big weekend for Joey and Rory Feek and their family. On Friday (February 12), the couple released what is most likely their final album, Hymns That Are Important To Us. The project was a labor of love for Joey as she recorded it in the midst of her cancer treatments last fall. It features some of the songs that she grew up with and that have helped bring her peace through her cancer battle.
Sunday, the couple celebrated Valentine’s Day. It was not only their 14th Valentine’s Day together, but also the anniversary of their first date. Rory shared a photo of their special celebration on social media.
Yesterday (February 15), was the Grammy awards. Joey and Rory were in the running for Best Country Vocal Duo/Group for their cover of “If I Needed You,” but lost to Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush.” While the duo wasn’t able to attend the award ceremony, they were well represented as Rory’s adult daughters, Heidi and Hopie, along with his cousin and manager, Aaron Carnahan, attended the event in their place.
Over the course of the weekend, Rory’s daughter Heidi shared photos of the Grammy festivities on Instagram. In one photo, Heidi shares that Joey recently passed on some of her favorite jewelry to Rory’s daughters. In her honor, Heidi and Hopie chose to wear some of their favorites on Grammy day.
While Joey+Rory didn’t bring home a Grammy, we’re sure that the honor of being recognized and nominated is something that the couple and their family will never forget. Tomorrow, they will gather to celebrate daughter Indiana’s 2nd birthday, something that Joey prayed she would live to see.
