Joey Feek continues to amaze us with her strength and determination. The 40-year old mother who is in the final stages of her cervical cancer battle has been bedridden for months, but that hasn't stopped her from doing what she can to take care of her family.
Rory, Joey's husband, shared a beautiful photo Sunday afternoon (February 21) of Joey helping prepare dinner for her family from her hospice bed. A tray in front of Joey holds a cutting board, a variety of spices and vegetables, and a mixer. The photo caption reads, "...when a mother can't get to the kitchen to help make her family dinner... you bring the kitchen to mama."
The past week has been a special one for the Feek family as they have celebrated numerous milestones including a Grammy nomination, the release of a new album, and their daughter's 2nd birthday. Rory shared just how special the milestone of Indiana's birthday was to Joey on his blog last week.
"Joey barely slept the night before Indiana’s birthday. She was too excited. Jody said she didn’t fall asleep until about 5 am, around the time that Indy and I woke up," Rory wrote. "When Joey woke up, a little before noon, I came in to see her… and tears were flowing down her face. Again, I put my arms around her and asked, 'why are you crying honey?'…
'We made it…', she softly answered. 'We made it'.
And once again, my tears mixed with hers."
We continue to pray for a miracle for Joey and her family.
