Shelton will be strumming up some of his biggest hits alongside fellow country singers Chris Janson and Corey Cox at the Firestone Legends Day Concert just before the 100th running of the Indy 500!
The country crooner hasn’t released new music since 2014’s Bringing Back The Sunshine, but he’s been talking a lot about his upcoming tenth studio album and it’s rumored that he will have released at least one single before this concert!
Pillip Dobbs of Firestone’s parent company, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, released the following statement about the upcoming concert and having Shelton as the headlining act:
“The Firestone Legends Day Concert has become a staple for fans of country music and racing, and we’re proud to carry on this tradition with Blake Shelton the night before the historic 100th Running of Indianapolis 500. Firestone is a work-hard, play-hard brand, and we invite everyone to come out to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 28 for a celebration unlike the Speedway has ever seen.”
The “Legends Day” has long been a unique part of the culture surrounding the Indianapolis 500 weekend where fans have celebrated the history and rallied for the upcoming Sunday race. Tickets for the concert go on sale February 29th, 2016 and can be purchased from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“The energy from his show will undoubtedly carry over to the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500,” the president of Indianapolis Motor Speedway said in the announcement.
Shelton has successfully charted 16 No. 1 hit singles successively – making him the current record holder in the modern era. He has a total of 21 No. 1 singles and honors them with his latest album – a compilation of his hits called Reloaded: 20 #1 Hits.
