After her moving audition on America's Got Talent went viral back in June of this year, Simon Cowell immortalized Grace VanderWaal as "the next Taylor Swift." Since then, just about everyone has been quick to compare her to the international superstar.
With Swift leading one of the most successful and respected careers in moder music history, you would think any aspiring singer would die to be compared to a musician of such worldwide prominence. However, the 12-year-old ukulele strumming singer doesn't take the relentless comparison too kindly.
VanderWaal took to Instagram to post a video explaining her frustration on the world's constant insistence to compare her to current singers like Swift and Sia.
"I had a good night sleep on something that's been bothering me for awhile," says a bed-headed VanderWaal. "I don't want to be Taylor Swift. I just want to be me so please stop comparing."
The 12-year-old singer writes in her caption that while she's "grateful" for the comparison to singers like Swift, she would prefer to just be Grace, and can you really blame her?
