Alan Jackson is mourning the loss of one special little boy today.
JoshuaJohn Waldrop, known by many as "JDub," was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer in 2014. Only 4 years old at the time, JDub's greatest wish was to meet his favorite country singer...Alan.
When Alan heard of his little fan's wish, he quickly made arrangements to meet him. He sent a limo to pick up JDub and his family and brought him to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Alan gave JDub an autographed guitar and also sang his favorite song with him, "I'll Fly Away."
In the time that passed since their meeting, Alan continued to show his support for his "Little Bitty Fan," and even made sure to wish him a happy birthday.
After two years of fighting cancer, JDub passed away on Tuesday (January 24). He had just celebrated his 7th birthday in December. The news was confirmed through Tennessee news station CBS 8.
When Alan heard the news, he was understandably heartbroken. He shared a sweet snapshot of him and JDub from their meeting, and wrote some kind words of support for his family.
"You'll forever be our sweet little blue eyed cowboy," he wrote.
Friends and family have been providing updates about JDubs funeral arrangements on the Facebook page they set up to support him through his cancer fight, called Prayers for JoshuaJohn. One of the page's administrators shared the address that you can send monetary donations to if you'd like to help the family during this sad time. The address is as follows:
Citizens Bank and Trust Company of Grainger County
8335 Rutledge Pike
Rutledge, Tennessee 37861
We're so saddened to hear of JDub's passing. We'll be keeping his family in our prayers.
