Charmiane Carr, the actress best known for her role of Liesl in ‘The Sound of Music’ has died at age 73. According to her website, Carr died of complications from a rare form of dementia.
At the age of 21, Carr played the eldest Von Trapp daughter and became famous for singing “I Am Sixteen Going on Seventeen” opposite Daniel Truhitte in one of the movie’s most popular scenes.
Carr was born in Chicago in 1942 where her family lived until she was 13 and moved to California’s San Fernando Valley. She was the daughter of a vaudeville actress and an orchestra leader.
After rising to ‘Sound of Music’ fame, Carr devoted her life to her family and her successful interior design business. Her most famous client was Michael Jackson who hired her because of his love for the movie.
Carr is survived by two sisters and two brothers, two daughters (Emily and Jennifer), her niece Julie, and four grandchildren.
