Billy Gilman Goes Country With Flawless Cover Of Martina McBride Tune On ‘The Voice’

YouTube

Billy Gilman delivered once again with a stunning performance during Monday night’s episode of ‘The Voice.’ The Grammy-nominated former country singer paid tribute to Martina McBride by covering her song “Anyway.”

Gilman credits Martina for helping him get his first record deal at age 12. Gilman’s first album, One Voice, earned the singer a Grammy Award nomination for Best Male Country Vocal Performance and a spot on the Billboard Country Top 40 for seven weeks in a row. The honor made Gilman the youngest artist to ever have a Top 40 hit and a 2x platinum album. Gilman was eventually dropped from his record deal after his voice started changing, but now he’s back in a big way on ‘The Voice’ and is seen by many as this season’s frontrunner.

While Gilman made it clear during the Blind Auditions that he wasn’t looking to go back to country music, his voice seems perfectly suited for the genre as demonstrated during Monday night’s performance. Check it out below and let us know what you think!
