Brad Paisley Brings Fellow Country Star To Tears With Surprise Wedding Performance Of ‘Today’

Tyler Farr‘s fiancee had a special request for their wedding, but the singer wasn’t sure he could deliver.

Farr and Hannah Freeman married Monday evening (October 10) after a year-and-a-half-long engagement. During the wedding planning process Freeman hinted that she wanted her country star husband-to-be to write a song for their big day.

In the weeks leading up to Tyler Farr’s wedding, one important detail weighed on his mind.

“I’ve written a ton of songs about her but she wanted one for our wedding,” Farr tells PEOPLE. “My buddy Lee Brice wrote ‘I Don’t Dance’ for his own wedding — the perfect wedding first dance song! — and I could not live up to that expectation.”

During months leading up to the wedding Farr tried but couldn’t come up with a song he was happy with.

“I couldn’t write a song that I felt was good enough for her,” Farr says.

The battle continued until just one week before the wedding when friend and tour mate Brad Paisley came to the rescue. Farr, who is opening for Paisley, was shown a sneak peek of Brad’s new single, “Today.”

“I was on his bus and he showed me the video and I just teared up,” admitted Farr. “I’m very blunt and I was like, ‘That song was amazing and I want to surprise my fiancée with something really special. Would you come and play this song for our first dance?’”

Paisley was happy to oblige and the two made plans to surprise Freeman during the reception following their Tennessee wedding.

“She had no idea,” Farr said of his new bride. “It was so cool of Brad to take the time to do that. He’s a good friend and a great guy.”

Farr shared a clip of his first dance with his new wife as they swayed to Brad Paisley’s acoustic performance of “Today.” In the video, both Farr and his bride are visibly emotional. Watch the clip below.
