Like all country artists, Brad Paisley had to work hard to make a name for himself. Through his talent and the support of his loyal fans, Paisley was able to take himself to the level of stardom he has today.
During the early days of his career, one of Paisley's strongest supporters was a woman by the name of Barbara Diane Whiten. But Paisley and everyone in his circle simply knew her as "Cupcake."
It turns out that Whiten was one of the first members of Paisley's official fan club. During Paisley's first year on tour, Whiten would show her support by baking cupcakes for him and his crew.
Although that was years ago, Whiten left a lasting impression on Paisley, who seems to have regarded her as a dear friend. So that's why his fans were heartbroken when he revealed the news that Whiten had passed away.
In an emotional post to his Facebook on Tuesday (June 20), Paisley recalled the kindess Whiten showed him during his first year on tour. He then revealed that his beloved "Cupcake" had passed away the day prior (June 19) due to "poor health."
"It makes me sad to see time take its toll, and yet so thankful for the rest of you as well," he wrote. "I cherish the friendships this career has brought my way..."
Fans sent in their condolences to Whiten's loved ones, Paisley, and all others whose lives she had touched. As of press time, no details concerning Whiten's funeral have been revealed.
We also join in sending our prayers to Whiten's family and friends during this sad time. May she rest in peace.
