On Sunday (October 16), Randy Travis captivated the world with the voice that country fans had missed so much. Three years after a stroke left him unable to sing, Travis led a room full of people in singing “Amazing Grace.”
The occasion was all the more emotional because it occurred during Travis’ induction ceremony to celebrate his newfound place in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Days after Travis’ miracle performance, people still can’t stop talking about it, including Brad Paisley.
Paisley was there to witness the unbelievable moment first hand, and had performed a tribute to Travis just minutes earlier. Acknowledging Travis’ impact on the genre, Paisley congratulated his “pal” before singing a cover of his hit song, “Forever and Ever, Amen.”
Three days after the induction ceremony, Paisley wrote a heartfelt note to express how moved he was by Travis’ “Amazing Grace” performance. Referencing his current single, “Today,” which refers to the beauty that can be found in the present, Paisley wrote about how inspiring Travis is:
“I’m still reeling from what I witnessed Sunday night. The spirit of the the song “Today” was brought to life right before my eyes…Sunday, at the Country Music Hall of Fame, Randy Travis gave country music an equally inspiring moment. He very simply took the mic and led the room in Amazing Grace. It was nothing short of miraculous.”
Paisley also revealed something in his note that we didn’t know previously. Garth Brooks already shared that he is going to be singing classic country duets along with his wife, Trisha Yearwood, at the upcoming CMA Awards. And now, Paisley has shared that he is going to pay tribute to Travis yet again at the ceremony.
“All of us are working to make this year the best it’s ever been,” he wrote. “Legends like Randy deserve it.”
We can’t wait to hear Paisley pay tribute to Travis once again. His tribute at the Country Music Hall of Fame was straight from the heart, so we know his new tribute will be just as great.
Tune in below to watch Paisley pay tribute to Travis with “Forever and Ever, Amen.”
