Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office released a report stating the traumatic accident followed the young girl's attempt to avoid a drainage ditch, overcorrecting, resulting in her crashing into a nearby pond. Jamie Lynn and her husband, Jamie Watson, quickly ran to her rescue but struggled to free her from the ATV due to the vehicle's safety netting and seatbelt.
The authorities arrived on the scene within minutes, successfully freeing Maddie, who remains stable but in a declared critical condition. Spears shares custody with Maddie's father, Casey Aldridge, whom she ended her relationship with back in 2010, marrying husband Watson years later in 2014.
While Spears is most known for her songwriting, penning songs for fellow artists such as Jana Kramer's "I Got the Boy," but she has also released her own music including her 2016 single "Sleepover."
