Underwood and Paisley - whom recently signed on to host the 2017 CMA Awards - met up with PEOPLE to discuss their past nine years of hosting and why the "Guy With a Girl" singer is always on the receiving end of their jokes.
“[Blake Shelton] will always laugh at himself,” Paisley shared with PEOPLE. “[Luke Bryan] will always laugh at himself. We just kind of learn who is a fair target.”
Shelton is notorious for his good sense of humor, his fellow Voice coach and best friend, Adam Levine, constantly making fun of the country singer, who is always ready to dish it right back.
Other country singers the superstar hosts describe as good sports are Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, whom are regularly featured in their hilarious opening monologues. However, while some artists enjoy the subtle jabs, there are some country singers who they make sure to not mention.
“You learn … which ones may not like it so much, so you just try to work with that,” added Underwood.
Can't wait to see what these two have in store for their tenth year of hosting! You can watch their hysterical monologue from the 2016 CMA Awards below.
