For months fans have speculated that Connie Britton will be leaving Nashville after the show’s move from ABC to CMT. But, Sunday night Britton addressed those rumors and gave the impression that the speculation may be wrong, saying, “I don’t know where that stuff came from. It’s kind of crazy the things that come out.”

It was reported earlier this year that the actress would be leaving halfway through Nashville‘s 5th season. According to TV Guide, the new season will feature Britton’s character, Rayna James, meeting a very wealthy internet app mogul with dreams of taking her music to a new generation of fans, but he “has other, more nefarious plans for her.”

The fact that Britton is only scheduled to appear in 10 of the show’s 22 episodes left fans with little hope that Rayna James will be a series regular for seasons to come. But, Britton’s comments Sunday night are leaving everyone wondering if perhaps there is a surprise in store for fans of the television drama.

Britton neither confirmed nor denied the rumors, but did state that she had just flown in from Nashville where she was filming and is excited about the show’s new writers calling season 5  “the best season we’ve ever had” with “the best writing we’ve ever seen.”
