The Love Of A Father

Twitty began to sing of a boy waking from a nightmare in the dead of the night, frightened by the experience and running to his father for comfort.

Upon asking his hero why he willingly tended to his crying son, the chorus softly answered the boy’s question. “And he said ‘That’s my job/ That’s what I do/ Everything I do is because of you/ To keep you safe with me/ That’s my job you see’,” Twitty sang.

The song’s chorus served as a response from the doting father throughout the ballad’s events, even during his time of tragic passing.

The Audience Was In Complete Awe

Fans were speechless upon hearing the singer’s emotional performance, fondly reminiscing on their own father’s undying love.

Written in 1987 by Gary Burr, the song served as the third single on Twitty’s album Borderline. It’s powerful message skyrocketed to number six on the charts and became a staple at all of his live shows. You can watch his performance of “That’s My Job” below.
