Country Culture Finds Its Champion Through Aaron Lewis & His Acoustic ‘Northern Redneck’

It seems to be the common belief among most people that you can only find rednecks in the Southern U.S. But anyone who lives up North knows that’s not true at all.

Rednecks and country folks can be found anywhere, from New York state to Oregon. It’s not the state that defines how “country” you are, but the way that you were raised and the way you live your life.

As someone who was born on the East Coast, this is a fact that Aaron Lewis knows well. The state that he was born in didn’t determine how country he is…that was all up to him.

Lewis took it upon himself to write a song in response to all those who claim that you can only find rednecks down South. That song turned into “Northern Redneck,” which appears as the fourth track on Lewis’ latest album, Sinner

“Northern Redneck” describes all of the typical things you would think of when you think “country.” For example, one line goes, “it’s a half hour from my front door to a Walmart or a grocery store.

The above mentioned line and all others in “Northern Redneck” point to aspects of life that all country people can relate to, no matter where they are from. We’d say that Lewis did an effective job at proving that “there’s rednecks north of the Mason-Dixon.”

“Northern Redneck” hasn’t been released as a single, but Lewis did take the time to sit down and film and acoustic performance of the song. Seated in front of an American flag, Lewis proudly sang the song that he wrote as a celebration of the country lifestyle.

Now it’s time for you to check out Lewis’ acoustic version of “Northern Redneck” below. This should be the official anthem for all of Lewis’ fans that live up north!
