After more than 160 million records sold and over 30 No. 1 singles hitting the charts featuring his incredible talent, Nashville has lost a country music legend.

Known for his position as a staple of country music, and his work with some of country’s biggest names, Mike Chapman surely made his mark on the world by contributing to decades of music that changed the landscape of the genre forever – and brought beautiful songs to millions of people worldwide.

Tragically, Mike Chapman lost his battle with cancer on Monday, June 13th, 2016. He was just 63 years old.

Chapman was a legendary studio musician and world-famous bassist. He performed with some of the greatest musicians in country music like George Jones, Keith Whitley, Brooks & Dunn, Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, and many, many more.

He was known as one of the “G-Men” from working on every single Garth Brooks album, including “Friends in Low Places”, “Thunder Rolls”, and much more!

Throughout his wonderful life, he was honored with many awards and achievements, including an induction into the Musicians Hall of Fame.

It is truly a loss to both country music and the world as a whole to have to say goodbye to this incredibly talented music legend and pioneer. He often shared his success and wisdom with those around him and he will be greatly missed.

Deborah Allen recalled some great memories of her time with Chapman musician in a memoir she shared on social media.

It’s difficult to understand why we have to say good bye for now,” Allen writes. “But we know God has a plan for all of us.

“We had so much fun traveling the world making music and making great memories! I will treasure every one of them forever.”

His daughter, Allison, has provided the information for his arrangements as well as some touching words about her beloved father in the post below.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
